Nyerere National Park, formerly known as Selous National Park, stands as Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary, spanning 55,000 square kilometers, surpassing Switzerland in size. Its vast expanse hosts abundant wildlife populations, including Tanzania’s largest elephant herds, buffalo, hippo, and wild dog packs. Visitors can also spot lions, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, greater kudu, among others, amidst its diverse ecosystems. With over 350 bird species and 2000 plant species, the park offers a rich tapestry of biodiversity.
